This is a good question. Because of rights issues you can't use the music you download from Play Music in other apps. They're sandboxed into Play Music. To use MP3s as ringtones and alarm tones you have to copy some MP3s over from your computer (or download them from Amazon MP3). It's a little bit annoying. Read more
