Yes, we needed to chop a lot of wood, and a lot of it was large in diameter. Tons and tons of driftwood, and we needed the smaller pieces to get the fire up to temp. The big logs kept it going. Loved that axe. Read more

What unsurprised said. Also, look at the photo of the log in that picture by the axe. We had to cut A LOT of those. Fallen trees that had become driftwood. That would have sucked real, real hard with a small backpacking saw. The axe ended up being one of the most-used items on that trip. Read more
