Any type of adventure company, sea, space, mountains, etc... should be required to fund all rescues of their clients or have all clients sign an enforced “no rescue” waiver that clearly states that no action is to be taken by any public resource for their rescue. Read more

Any insight on how the submersible communicates with the support vessel? There has to be some form of communication between the two, right? Maybe not one that works all the way down to 13,000 feet, but surely some method of communicating? Read more

It is possible that it had a power failure or something along those lines and is actually at the surface, adrift, without radio contact. And — of course — the submersible can’t be opened from the inside, so unless they are found soon, they will run out of oxygen. Read more

It’s not so much a "rescue" as a recovery operation. Unless the sub is still cruising around, it very likely sank below crush depth and imploded. They did not feel any pain though; the collapse happens in milliseconds, to fast for nerve signals to reach the brain. Read more
