Usually when a new iPhone comes out and there's supposedly a major problem—remember antennagate?—it's people griping about nothing. But this time, Apple's new maps are a real problem. At least they are for me—I used to use the Google Maps app to get around New York on public transit. But even for general use, Apple's offering isn't looking too hot. And it might not get better soon.
But constantly complaining about Apple's new Maps overlooks the biggest reason you bought an iPhone in the first place—the ecosystem of apps. The ecosystem is delivering: Garmin's Navigon added transit directions yesterday, and venerable app developer Telnav certainly feels your pain.
