Until recently, Dealzmodo was phasing out deals on disc media. There's a plethora of online options to stream or download, and many laptops and desktops don't even come with optical drives anymore. It seemed like the right time to take DVDs and Blu-rays out to pasture. But many of you—committed Dealz readers—wrote us, or commented on posts that you loved discs. You pointed out that both Google and iTunes use compression to deliver HD content, and that Blu-rays offered the highest possible video quality. You suggested that that owning a physical object is different than renting bits and bytes. And you proposed that since optical media is somewhat on its way out, there's bound to be great deals on discs.
Iron Man 2 is a fun movie with great graphics. Robert Downey Jr. has a really compelling take on Tony Stark. There's a lot of action, and it's the exact kind of movie you want to see in maximum quality. It even introduces Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, so the film transitions smoothly into The Avengers, which is also on sale today. It's totally worth watching, even if only to catch up before the 3rd installment comes out next year. At Amazon, a three-disc set including both a Blu-ray and a DVD is only $10 today, which is half the price of an HD download from iTunes. Oh, and the extras on disc are way better too. There's even an extra to download a digital copy of the film! Long live dead media. [Amazon]
